Visiting Spain With an ETIAS Visa Waiver

  • A Credit/debit card

When the ETIAS form is completed with necessary data and it’s all submitted you should receive your approval within 96 hours. This is sent directly to the email you used during the registration process and the document is also electronically linked to your passport. 

What Does ETIAS Entitle Me To?

An ETIAS for Spain is going to speed up the process of entering Europe in many different ways. Once live and active, ETIAS registered US travellers will be able to pass through immigration with fewer checks than there currently are now.

Aside from that ETIAS entitles US travelers to:   

  • Enter the EU Schengen zone through Spain’s borders
  • Stay in Schengen for up to 90 days
  • Visit the EU and Spain multiple times over a 3-year ETIAS validity period or until your passport expires

Travelling to Spain with a Schengen Visa

Visiting Spain for less than 90 days doesn’t require a visa. However, for longer stays or to study, compete as an athlete, or work in the country, US citizens will need to apply for a Schengen visa.

Schengen visas require a slightly lengthier process of approval. In order to travel to Spain with a visa, applicants must:   

  • Contact a local Spanish embassy or consulate
  • Fill in the correct application form for your situation
  • Submit the correct supporting data (such as a valid passport)
  • Provide evidence of sufficient funds, European health insurance, and roundtrip itinerary
