Ministers figure in IIIT row On Staff removal

VIJAYAWADA, SEPT.22: Nuzvid IIIT contract employees’ termination took a different turn as former MLA Mudraboina Venkateswara Rao has released a list of candidates recommended by TD MLAs, ministers and leaderson Thursday.

In fact, the report in these columns prompted the former MLA to justify his act of recommending a few candidates for various contractual posts in IIIT, Nuzvid. The controversy came to light following the differences between the Executive Council and IIIT director over filling the posts. The EC has differed with the unilateral decision of the director over appointing 64 candidates and as a result, the candidates lost their employment. While a few candidates have alleged that persons close to the former MILA have collected money from them, the former MLA tried to prove that his action Was justified.

“Like several TD leaders, MLAsand ministers, I also have recommended the names of a few people who approached me for employment,” Mr. Muddaraboyina clarified, and added that ministers Kamineni Sreenivas, Prathipati Pulla Rao, Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao and Ganta Sreenivasa Rao, MPs Kesinemi Sreenivas, Maganti Babu, Konakalla Narayana, BJP MP Gokaraju Gangaraju, MLA Vallabhaneni Vamshee, former ViceChancellor Vijay Prakash, TD Christian Cell state president John Wesley, one K.C. Reddy from CM Peshi, have also issued letters to the IIIT director recommending candidates for a few posts. He demanded the authorities to conduct an open inquiry. The former MLA alleged that Nuzvid MLA is responsible for sale of various positions On the campus.

The entire episode attracted the district special branch and it has sent a note to the state intelligence about the controversy, wherein the reported involvement of local MLA Meka Appa Rao and former MILA Venkateswara Rao figured. As the same was leaked to the TD cadres, they have gathered the victims who lost their jobs in the IIIT at Muddaraboyina’s house and prepared a letter which was signed by the victims.
The whole exercise has irked the TD state leaders and now the party elite wing has started working on finding out the reasons for this unwanted development to happen.
Speaking on the issue, Mr. Muddaraboyima asked as to how recommending unemployed youth for employment falls under the ambit of crime.

“If mine is a crime, then how about the ministers and other MLAs recommendations,” “Mr Muddaraboyina questioned. The TD leader and Morsapudi PACCS president Potluri Shantikumar also demanded the authorities to find out the facts.
