Probe begins into infant death in Guntur hospital
GUNTUR: The government doctors continued their protest on the consecutive second day on Friday in the Government General Hospital (GGH) at Guntur demanding cancellation of suspension orders issued to Dr Indira.
The protesting doctors claimed that Dr Indira was not at fault in the infant death case in the GGH and warned about boycotting duties if the government fails to cancel the suspension orders.
The directorate of medical education appointed a three-men committee to conduct an inquiry into the infant death case. The committee members, Dr Sasank, principal of Siddhartha Medical College, Dr N.S. Vithal Rao, prof. essor of Siddhartha Medical College and Dr. Venkat Rao, professor of RIMS, Ongole, came to the GGH on Friday to conduct the inquiry.
The angry doctors led by the Government Doctors Association president, Dr K. Santhaiah staged a protest in front of the superintendent’s office demanding unconditional cancellation of suspension Orders against Dr Indira.
The inquiry team assured about conducting a thorough inquiry about the infant death incident and do justice to doctors if they were found innocent on which doctors resumed their duties.
GGH superintendent Dr D.S. Raju Naidu said that the committee conducted inquiry with PG students, nurses, doctors and patients. He said that the committee will submit its inquiry report in a sealed cover to the directorate of medical education and the higher officials will take action on the basis of the report.
He said that all services, including outpatient Were performed in the GGH on Friday and doctors attended their duties as usual.
