EVERY DISTRICT WILL HAVE CYBER CRIME POLICE STATIONS
VISAKHAPATNAM: Additional Director General of Police (CID) CH. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said it was proposed to set up cyber crime police stations in every district across the state in the Wake of ever increasing cyber crime cases.
Addressing senior police officers drawn from all the districts at the two-day state-level Workshop on cyber crimes, Mr Rao. On Tuesday said phishing/Vishing cases had gone up along with social media crimes, including pornography, in the state as around 90 percent cases fall Only in these categories.
“There are only three cyber crime police stations in AP of which one is at Hyderabad, While the other two are at Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam and there is a need to set up One in every district. Unless We know about the technology and its usage, cracking of these cyber crime cases is a very tough task. This is the reason, most of the cases fail during investigation. We need to take the help of experts,” he said.
He added that 285 police personnel who underwent training last year, were given exclusive training in 15 modules of cyber crime.
After the training, the policemen have begun working at various police stations in the State.
To motivate the police officers to crack the cyber crime cases quickly, Mr Dwaraka Tirumal Rao said the police department has decided to give away awards to police officers concerned for best investigations in the state.
The first prize will be cash of Rs1 lakh, while the second and third prizes will be R60,000 and R40,000 respectively.
