Ridley Scott briefly talks about Prometheus 2
On the heels of the release of Prometheus on Blu-ray and DVD, Metro had a chance to sit down with director Ridley Scott to talk about Prometheus and its possible follow-up story line.
When jokingly asked if the sequel consisted of merely Shaw trying to put David’s head back on to his body, Scott expressed that he wishes “it was that easy. They’re going off to paradise but it could be the most savage, horrible place. Who are the Engineers?”
That’s right — who are the Engineers? Where do they come from? What is their purpose? Many questions raised in Prometheus that remain unanswered, leaving Prometheus fans in much anticipation for that sequel.

It’s good to hear Sir Scott able to put on a good face following the tragedy of his brother, hopefully he can put this energy into his films and knock ‘em out of the park!
To think he’s now lost both his brothers under such tragic circumstances. I hope he is alright considering, and look forward to upcoming movies like this sequel and The Counselor, starring Fassbender and written by Cormac McCarthy (some upgrade from Lindelof)!
Firstly im glad Ridley is keeping his chin up since he lost his brother recently. Regarding the sequal, its the perfect idea, it will piss off alot of religious folk (which is always funny), but thats the beauty of it. Making out our creators/gods in the heavens are infact the very demons we should be afraid of.
Maybe he will get to call it Paradise this time around? Fox were scared of upsetting religious people and made him change it to Prometheus… He had to tone down the most provocative ideas in the movie as well. With Rothman gone, maybe that will change.

you twat waffles that feel the need to mock religious people need to grow the hell up. Most of us religious people aren’t as easily offended by the stuff you always say we are. We sure as heck aren’t as sensitive as you anti’s are anytime the G word is spoken.
You just had to know the sequel was already planned. The sticker on the outside of the movie sleeve said “Questions will be answered”! Horse feathers! The movie generated a lot more questions than it actually answered. Once again I noticed that a human female & a cyborg were all that was left of the original crew. What? No cat this time? So will Shaw ultimately save mankind by showing up at the doorstep of the engineers? They will probably be impressed by her not deciding to run away. I’d love to know what the cyborg said to the last remaining engineer to make him want to rip the head off his shoulders. I hope it wasn’t a pick up line or his asking to be made a into a human. Bad choice apparently! Now we have to wait all over again for another batch of head scratchers to be resolved. Maybe if we’re lucky, we’ll have the same kind of beings like the engineers come here to answer them all before the next movie sequel does & we won’t have to spend trillions we don’t really have to go find them.
We already know what he told the Engineer, the language consultant said it was “this man is here because he does not want to die. He believes you can give him more life”. In the extended version of the scene there is more, the Engineer angrily asks why he wants more life, and Weyland says he deserves it because he made Davis in his own image and is a creator like them.
Most questions were actually answered in the movie, just not directly. They want us to us our imagination to figure things out. “Once again I noticed that a human female & a cyborg were all that was left of the original crew. What? No cat this time?” – this is a strange complaint. The only other movie where only a woman and a robot was left was Resurrection, so who cares?
Human kind doesn’t need saving. We’re still alive and kicking and all Alien sequels confirm that. There is no indication of Prometheus brought apocalypse so the outcome of Prometheus 2 is well known in advance, which is a shame. They should tackle religious context and not ever recycling “save human race” theme.
Shaw should go and bomb paradise with their own weapon… ok not.
This would be the concept if Michael Bay directed the sequel.
Yesterday I bought steelbook edition of Prometheus from france.And I watched everything in it.Also like all deleted scenes and altenative scenes.And then all empty spcae fill in with lots of things from bonus bluray.I hope he will shot second one because this movie is not simple as seen.Of course as Alien fan I wanna more connection between.I hope he will shoot other ships because 2 more left in that planet also give scenes about Deacon.
When I first saw Prometheus I was in mixed views, but I do find it hard to concentrate in the cinema. But when I saw it on Blu-Ray I really enjoyed it there was never a dull moment well done Ridley and take each day as it comes.

You’re out of luck, Lindelof said the sequel will have even less to do with Alien (even though he will not return as a writer he and Scott have talked a lot about it) and Scott said there will be no eggs, xenos or chestbursters in an eventual third movie either.
I bet the studio will eventually do more xeno movies after Scott is done though.
I don’t think you are entirely right about that. I don’t think Scott will direct the next one either but will produce. I did not love Prometheus but I didn’t hate it either as an Alien fan. I just want it to head back into its Alien roots in terms of psychological terror. These engineers are some twisted creators I believe.
He has already been confirmed as director of the sequel and has stated his desire to direct it many times.
He wants to create a sci-fi mythology of his own, even going as far as flirting with the idea of incorporating Blade Runner into it (check out “Merging Ridleyverses” and on the Bluray).
Yes, I just got my copy and will sit down soon and watch it. I look forward to the sequel and I am also hopeful for more Alien films in the future. I think after Scott’s films are made I see huge potential for Alien 5 etc. I would love to see James Cameron tackle another Alien film. They seem to be the only two director’s that have a good relationship with Fox and get what they want.
They were actually developing Alien 5 together with Cameron as the writer and producer and Scott as director, but Cameron stopped writing when Fox pursued the AvP project. How could they be so stupid? Cameron and Scott were, naturally, both furious.
Yes, I read this somewhere as well. How could Fox be so stupid. Both Ridley and Cameron hate AVP. I cannot imagine how great this movie would have been. Both of their responses. Enough said!

I looked at my post, interesting how the time was at 10:11 and of course 2012 was in there too. That has me stumped. I thought it would b cool if Sir Ridley Scott actually had a company, Weyland, become a Corp. Or someone. We also just lost someone in our family, my thoughts and encouragement go out to you. Thanks for everything you’ve given, I just hope there’s sooooo much more!
I am answering or speakiing my thoughts. to the running gods halogram story that everyone might have questions about?. them running?why are they running? well in the head snapping scene. i think he maybe snapped robots head off. because maybe in the hallogram running thing that im confused happen really during that.! A human had been part of it.. and then actually was the one who shut the door on that head that had been found! in the halogram! and he seeks revenge of his brother… and im thinkin the half alien god blue human demon… ha will find a ship…and fly it.. and something will happen. if it finds shaw or shaw finds her.. (they meet).. they will feel a connection.. and she wont know where it came from.. noone willl…?? or maybe the creater wanted to destroy earth because shaw was on it? ha that would be a twist. ha feel free to give me ur thoughts.

Scott has already explained the Engineers we see in Prometheus are like the archangels of Paradise Lost, a warrior race who serve a higher power. I’m thinking they have been designed that way by their masters (hence their super ripped physique and the “pressure suit” built directly into the final Engineer’s body).
