I love Noomi Repace in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, but her performance in Prometheus just didn’t do anything for me. I found her character to be aloof and just no depth to her character like Sigourney’s Ripley. If Ridley would have just stuck to the script and fleshed the characters out more, I think it would have been a much better film.
You must be trolling. Segourney’s character had zero depth in Alien being completely one dimensional. She only becomes two dimensional in Aliens with the motherly aspect added. It takes her until Alien^3 to become fully rounded. That’s three films while Elizabeth Shaw is a complex layered fully rounded character in one film. Many of the fans of Prometheus are just as big of Fans, if not more Fans, of the original Alien and Aliens. Me personally, I hold it up their as a different engine, somewhere between the two. No more, no less, respect or love for it. Furthermore, all the fans of the film that I have met, many, are very intelligent people, open to new ideas in their beloved series. A highly ignorant statement is too assume that someone can’t possible be on your level of random for a series, due to them liking the film. That’s nothing short of ridiculous, and extremely immature. One thing I loved about Prometheus, despite its flaws (all films have them) in the narrative, was its willingness to try new things, and too flesh out a Universe I have always held in the highest creative regard. It has been a favorite of mine since I was a little child in 1984. It has fascinated me my whole life; the art direction, the tone, and the characters and story-lines. I owned all the original Dark horse comics up too the Destroying Angles series, and still own the first prints of Books 1,2, and Earth War. So yes, I am a huge fan, and I loved Prometheus. Another point to consider is this, I didn’t love it the first viewing. It absolutely had to settle, because I, like many, had nostalgia and pre-conceived expectations. However, I am open-minded, and I do embrace new ideas if they can add to something I love in a respectful way. Prometheus did that. The sets, the designs, the artwork, the characters, and the story, all followed very closely to the world I knew. When I first starting seeing the craftsmanship, and the designs that painstakingly followed the “set-in-stone” look of the ships, and creatures, I had to respect that. The fact that they used practical when often was an extreme + for me as well. Physical creatures and sets are ALWAYS better than CG. As an artist, I respect that. Lastly, regards to the tone and story, after the second viewing it started to sink in, and feel more like home. Chats natural with established series. Be open-minded, read about what went into designing the film, and if you havn’t seen it since your theater excursion, I highly recommend viewing it again.
If you still feel the need to be an asshole to people who enjoy it, I don’t know what to tell you. But hanging around a board for a film you hate seems rather pointless and illogical.
I have gotten so sick and tired of people bashing fans of this film, and their remarks regarding said peoples ability to be a fan of the series.

But it fails miserably at adding anything of value.
Either on the original contents own merits, or in relation to the Alien universe.
In between all the recycled parts that it rips off from other movies.

The world didn’t need more of those.
I find no merit to it as a piece of cinema,

They’ve seen Alien, but never understood what makes it special.
Part of the problem being that they’ve been raised on really bad ADD media like lost, so unless its got 3d, a spaceship that looks like a frathouse, scooby-doo scientists and spastic pseudo philosophy they cant really get into it.
Long story short,
Alien is to measured and intelligent for them to relate to it.
Prometheus is Alien for the ADD millennial generation.
And the two groups dont really overlap much.
Personally I find prometheus fans much more similar to alienS fans.

A little imagery on rape a complex film does not make.

I know when I heard that Ridley was forced to make a PG13 cut for an Alien film, I laughed my ass off. I knew this film was going to be shit after they changed it from a direct prequel.
I love coming on here and shitting on this horrible movie and its Lindelof fan base. I hate this asshole and I feel proud that I have contributed to Lindelof’s downfall as a reputable screenwriter. What he did to the Alien prequel, including Ridley and Fox’s involvement is unforgiveable.

Humm I think the problem here is that people who grew up with the original set of films followed the story’s closely and have immersed them self’s in all the literature e.c.t and others simply have not.
You have to look at the acting first of all and apart from Michaels acting the rest was mediocre or bad, the film lead people to think until the end that alien would follow.
So the series sold out for the money, and lead viewers on and took advantage of us and with these elements combined it looks worse and worse.
CGI wise its a block buster movie for the SciFi hoards but no matter how many flashing lights you have you can’t decorate a turd.
They went and did a starwars on us the tech in Prometheus looks far advanced from t the nostromos tech ( regardless of it meaning to be an old mining craft ) the sheen create this gap between styles of the universe created, match the Prometheus to the marines ship in aliens and all becomes apparent.
They made a money spinner blockbuster expecting fans to jump onboard but missed the mark by a whole parsec
and yet it made enough money to get the green light for the sequel…

It has been approved for a sequel but it has not definitively been greenlighted. No script or budget has been approved by the studio, so you cannot say it’s greenlighted. Be patient little fanboy, it will take some time.
