Damon Lindelof Talks Eggs, Facehuggers, Chestbursters, and Xenomorphs
Damon Lindelof sits down with fellow screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith in front of a packed audience and shares details on Jon Spaihts’ original script as well as some of the process that went into working with Ridley Scott to complete the Prometheus shooting script.
From around the 15:00 mark of the video below, Lindelof talks about receiving a script called “Alien Zero” which was full of eggs, facehuggers, chestbursters, and xenomorphs that went on to kill everybody. From the 16:00 mark, Lindelof goes on to say he originally felt Spaihts’ idea of a humanoid Space Jockey was bullshit because it was retcon.
We also learn, from the 18:40 mark, that upon meeting Ridley Scott for the first time to discuss reworking Spaihts’ draft, the acclaimed director was butt naked except for a sword because he’s a knight.
There’s more regarding Prometheus. And, all in all, it’s a pretty insightful look at Lindelof’s contribution to the movie where he seems to be a little remorseful. The rest of the video has both people going over the trials and tribulations of being scriptwriters and plugging whatever they’re currently working on.
