(Update: Confirmed) Damon Lindelof’s “Paradise” Draft
Steven Weintraub of Collider.com has recently posted a script that he claims to be Damon Lindelof’s “Paradise” draft. It’s not 100% confirmed yet that it is Lindelof’s, but Weintraub is as reputable as it gets in regards to reporting film news. So now it’s just a matter of time till it gets confirmed.

GODDAM!
thx v
May Disney go down in flames if Damon Lindelof has anything to do with the new Star Wars trilogy.
Why? Lindelof is awesome.
Damon you really need stay off these fan forums and stick to your twitter twat page. Be gone you self-proclaimed fan.
And I think you need to stick to snivelling around IMDB or whereever it is you enjoy being a daily cunt.
Uncle Bob…don’t quit your day job being a child molestor.
This is a good script with better characterisation than in the film. If this script had been filmed in its entirety then Prometheus would have been a superb film. I think we need to ask Sir Ridley some questions….
Ridley Scott doesn’t give a shit what you think. He is one of those directors who does listen to the studio but not the fans. The exact same reason you will never see an extended cut of Prometheus. It was his decision to make and he declined. If he is bluffing, than he is saving the footage to line Fox’s fat pockets for the near future for a double dip. I supported the film and viewed it twice in theaters and purchased it on bluray. As a huge Alien fan, I would have rather it been a direct prequel with several sequels or a reboot. The original franchise was ran into the ground basically after Alien 3, but royally derailed after the 4th. Not sure where you could go with the story without it being completely stupid. This is why we have not seen any talks of an Alien 5 but keeping fingers crossed. Anyways, I have accepted Prometheus even though it is a flawed film script/editing wise and enjoy it for what it is.
But he didn’t do what the studio wanted, which was to give them an extended cut to maximize profits.
I think many people are reading too much into his comments about being studio friendly and a commercial director. His point was that he has to compromise to be allowed to make big movies like Prometheus, and that’s just being realistic. Remember that Scott has had quite a few box office flops, he can’t afford to be uncompromising. That’s why he couldn’t get the Director’s Cut of Kingdom of Heaven to the theaters while Peter Jackson got away with a 3 hour King Kong movie.
So, Monsieur Anonymous, would that would be the same fat Fox pockets that you have lined by seeing the film twice in theatres and purchasing the Blu-ray? I know old Ridders doesn’t give a shit what I think, no more than he (or Fox)gives a shit that you are hoping for an Alien 5. The point I was attempting to make (and obviously by using subtlety clearly failing) was that if fans were disappointed in Prometheus then DL should not be the fall guy he was back in June.
Your really not funny nor intelligent with your silly rhetoric. He is responsible as well as Ridley Scott. Nice response DL, we all know you read these forums.
The David in me would correct your basic spelling error.
Try ‘You’re’ NOT ‘Your’
The Damon in me would strenuously deny your assertion that Mother is he!
Au revoir!
LOL…well how does you’re a d i c k sound….ya French twat!
But, mon ami, a Frenchman who can still spell better than you. And if I was going to insult someone at least I wouldn’t get my genitalia insults mixed up.
It is, how you say, so very confusing.
In any case, I thought you thought I was Damon Lindelof!!
I fear, my friend, that it is not me who is confused.
You have a lot of room to talk asshole, “would that would be”. Good grammar on your part. Les incompetents..biaatch.
I could care less if Damon’s script leaked, he still sucks as a screenwriter. Nothing will change that!
No he’s amazing. Are you jealous, you dog?
nope he sucks. Plus he is one annoying individual and likes to run his mouth a lot. Total attention whore like you.
Forget Alien 5. That franchise needs to stay in the past. If they are making a sequel to Prometheus, for my sake alone, it needs to continue on with the Dr’s journey to the engineers. Prometheus was a good action movie, but it left you with so many lingering questions and conflicting ideas that even if you poured over it you couldn’t really come out on top.
We don’t have to see the engineers home planet or anything, but to lead us closer to them would please Prometheus fans seeing as how any positive review i’ve read says they are the most intriguing aspect. Sorry if I am being negative. Just my 2 cents for the fountain.
its going to have to be a hell of a screen write with shaw and a head in a bag…hopefully shaw never wakes from the cryotube…and the magellan turns up with a whole new back up crew that can act and have some common sense
There may not be an Alien 5. However, I do see them using Prometheus and its sequel to reboot the original franchise in a new direction. The possibilities are endless how they could revamp this franchise.
I’d quite like to see a sequel set totally on the ship that Shaw & David are on. We know the vessels have vaults containing all sorts of wonders/horrors. It could be a a cool middle movie that leads to the adventure on the engineer’s home world.
Just think of all the things David’s remains could warp into if suitably exposed to the black goop D:
Not sure what you mean by David’s remains could warp into. The film pretty much showed that it has no effect on him.
Dude this is SCI-FI, we only saw one type of goo.
David is bio-mechanical like certain xenomprphs…
That’s the beauty of SCI-FI, you can take it anywhere.
oops, xenomorph.
It’s also possible that the goo does effect David but it takes much longer to take action against his composition.
I think that covers that
I think its a bit of a stretch. He is synthetic and does not have cellular DNA. The goo is a DNA manipulating agent.
Ah, but the goo is great at adapting…
Also we don’t know what other toys are stored on the ship Shaw and David are travelling on. Something could use David as a host and use him like a scary homicidal puppet…
In the end the safest route is obviously that Shaw is in some way forced to repair David against her better judgement.
I just think being trapped on an alien spacecraft with bio weapons and a killer android is more exciting…
Nik u have quite the imagination. However, I don’t see the sequel focusing on the ship. I see her repairing him and finding the answers or lack thereof. I am sure they will put a lot of effort into this next film script and budget wise.
I actually had an idea for Alien 5 and believe it or not I called it, “Alien Zero” !!!
It had the clone Ripley and a band of rebel synthetics board a company science vessel that was masquerading as an orbital fertility clinic but was really mixing human embryos and xenomorph dna to make super soldiers. One of which was the space jokey that piloted the station/ship.
In the end the clone Ripley punches her fist through the jokey’s back forcing the ship to crash into a black hole and end up you know where.
The whole thing would be from a young couple’s perspective who had come for the very exclusive treatment.
How’s that for imagination
Interesting. You should read William Gibson’s Alien 3 script that was abandoned, it dealt with genetic experimentation and harnessing xenomorph dna for designing different kinds of biological weapons. It really is sad what has become of the Alien franchise. It had so much potential. I am hoping that Prometheus sets the stage for an Alien reboot.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll look for that script! I love WG. I actually enjoyed Alien 4. 3 was the killer for me. It killed off 2 brilliant characters that I was really invested in. It was just so gloomy and lifeless IMHO.
looking forward to Prometheus 2, I think Prometheus was crafted to optimise the possibility of a sequel. I’d love them to risk more full-on horror if it suited a good story.
4 was like a tonic after 3 but it was still flogging a dead xeno
I want David to use engineer tech to
repair himself into something really nasty!
WG script a dog which even has an OK Corral in space final sequence. Read it but Finscher’s Alien 3 (in Assembly Cut only) is far superior.
In fact, Alien 3 is a great allegory for Prometheus. Great script let down by poor editing decisions.
I do agree that the extended-whatever edition without the dog etc was a better movie.
The from the ceiling kill in the dining hall was a great moment in cinema
Still an awful idea IMHO to kill off Hicks & Newt at the beginning. It immediately depressed me and annoyed me marring my experience of the movie from the outset. The movie just got grimmer from then on.
At least they didn’t do the wooden planet thing which was not a good fit in the reality of the created universe.
The problem that lies with Alien 3 is that they didn’t know how to approach the story. I think they had like 3-4 different scripts for this film. Fincher had his hands tied by the studio and they were still writing the script while filming. It was a mess of a production according to behind the scenes footage/interviews. The assembly cut of Alien 3 is much better indeed.
Alien 3 also came out in that period where it seemed to be cool to try and reinvent stuff and make everything hard-hitting and grim.
Granted there were good elements to the extended/special err, other version of 3 but even if the script was finished at the start I would still not have appreciated how Hicks & Newt were handled.
I’m not saying they should not have been killed off at some stage… nah, it doesn’t matter it’s like 28 Days Later, good movie but so grim and negative I just hated it.
Nik, you are right. Alien 3 comes from a particular school of filmmaking, in this case ultra-British dystopian world (the analogy with 28 Days Later is spot on) and it had a very British cast and dialogue. It is the exact opposite of Aliens and many people wanted to see more of that so it came as a shock to them and was IMO rejected unfairly by this body of fans. But all the Alien films are very different in style and feel and that makes the franchise stronger. It would have been worse if both sequels after Aliens were merely reworkings of that film.
Mother, I totally agree with you while appreciating that you see what I meant.
I wouldn’t say that I personally have rejected Alien3 but for me it fell flat for its unwavering grim tone. There are some great sequences but out of all the Alien movies I found 3 the least entertaining and I’m the shallow type that needs my movies to entertain on some level
Nik, for me it is 4 that falls flat. A great story but poorly executed. Even though the director was French! But that still has some great moments – the hybrid Ripley was a great concept and finding her previous failed clones was a truly chilling moment.
By the way the ceiling kill in Alien 3 had an added enjoyment factor to UK viewers as the chief warden was a well-known loveable UK acting institution (Brian Glover) who was best known for playing a PE teacher in the film Kes and as the voice of a particular brand of tea. I think Alien 3 was his last film before he died.
