Prometheus Cast & Director Talk Deleted Scenes for “Special Edition”
The Prometheus cast & director talk deleted scenes in this exclusive interview with Cinemax.
The clip below starts with Charlize Theron initiating the conversation about the deleted sex scene between Vickers and Janek where Ridley Scotts responds with “we’ve kept it for the special edition.” This is followed by Noomi Rapace talking about her own sort of sex scene with Logan Marshall-Green that shows him ripping her whole outfit in one take. Finally Charlize goes into passionate detail about Idris Elba’s… swagger.
This isn’t the only interview clip with the cast and director for Cinemax. Check out two more here and here.

Oh, please, no. This is absurd. If the deleted scenes of the “special edition” are merely sex scenes that will add absolutely nothing to the story, I’ll pass. If they ended on the cutting floor it was for a reason.
I’d wish they would take that opportunity to ADD to the story and to do some re-edits to tighten the pace instead.
I’d like to see the sex scene with Logan Marshall-Green.
Oh great, thats like the only thing that this movie ISN’T missing.
This sounds like a “special edition” in the Lucas sense of the phrase.
I’m just hoping that they load us up with extras to make a good fanedit.
Sounds like Prometheus: Sex edition. Hopefully the directors cut will be great and I can watch a movie feeling happy. Loved Prometheus in the theaters and cannot wait to see what happens with the DVD release and if there is a sequel.
Actually, after a good night’s sleep and a lot of hard thinking, I’ve realized that maybe we do indeed need to see both sex scenes in detail. Not for perverse reasons, no, not at all. I’m perfectly satisfied on that field. We need to see it because it fits in perfectly with the film’s theme of Creation vs Distruction. We keep seeing metaphors for death and life throughout the film but we never see the act of creation itself, we don’t see the engineers designing us or the black goo nor do we see the sexual acts of lifemaking and such. And after discussing this complex issue with a few colleagues of mine it became clear to me that Ridley Scott (film spartan/alien filmmaker) held back from giving us what we needed, a moviegoing revolution. Why must we censor the beauty of creation? I’d love to see an extreme closeup in 3D of the TRUE creation of man. With all the technology we have, imagine seeing this wonderful act in ways we’ve imagined before, imagine that opening scene but with THIS instead.
After arguing with my wife about this issue, I’ve concluded that the culprit for this calamity is none other than Warner Brothers themselves. Censoring the genius out of filmmaking and ruining/wasting the talent of incomparable directors out there. At least it seems like they’re saving it for later, for the fans who have truly understood the concept of this magnificent film and it’s deep (…) themes. Only us true fans who have thought long and hard with all our neurones about the underlying concepts beneath unwashed sheets and between abrupt cuts and firm thighs. Oh my, I can’t wait for the special edition Bluray. Where do I pre-order?
You guys do realize they’re joking… right?
Yes that occurred to me.
And I hope its just (another) cruel joke.
But Ridley also said that this was a great script.
I’m like a battered wife when it comes to assuming anything about what Ridley says now.
They better remove 70% of the soundtrack from DVD release :@ completely ruined the tension and was so distracting….
Could have been way more tense and scary if they kept soundtrack to a minimum and only used in a select few scenes…
Its a great soundtrack but it just didn’t seem to fit and made film even worse sadly… oh well, lets hope DVD has a better cut haha.
I frankly don’t care if there are sex scenes in the movie, I want to see more of those engineers. They absolutely terrified and fascinated me at the same time. The whole look of the film was beautiful.
