Ridley is looking sharp
I am pumpppppped
Why is that guy’s face hit with acid but his helmet is still intact? Hmmmm. Can’t wait for this!
isn’t it obvious then? it’s probably not acid, but some type of chemical burn originating inside his suit. also, if it was acid, it would eat right through his helmet visor.
Two previews for the preview
hell 2 the yes
Pretty much confirms this movie is an Alien movie!
Im afraid i dont see much Giger influence… it’s all Arthur Max
What are the flame throwers for? it looks more like its used to fix something, than a weapon….
There was scene in one of the leaked trailers where they showed a guy torching something living…
in ALIEN it was never originally intended as a weapon…
“Sup dawg, I heard you like trailers so we made a trailer for? the trailer so you can be hyped for the hype.”
gold
Yeah, I liked that too
it looks like noomi is in labor hehe
I wonder what’s causing that sand storm
maybe the space jockey ship making its enterance
I definetly see a Gigeresque influence in these teasers, the atmospheric suits are nice, but look a helluva lot more advanced than what they were sporting on the Nostromo, but then again the Nostromo was a more utilitarian vessel, these guys are obviously on some kinda research crew. The nods to this being a part of the ALIEN Universe are undeniable…but sticking very much to solely the ALIEN film itself, and not the sequels, kinda like the sequels are “Apocryphal” but ALIEN is definetly a future event…
To add to your comments, the set designs are indeed Giger influenced, but I have a suspicion that these sets weren’t designed by him because they lack depth and curves. Take a look at the background image of this website to see what I mean
But yes, he is working on this movie at a yet unknown capacity.
I agree that the images and videos seen so far point to Prometheus being a part of the Alien film universe. Perhaps because of Ridley’s unique visual style that we tend to distance this movie from the movies after Alien (1979). Personally, I think nothing in the story of Prometheus will contradict the established film canon of the four movies. Fox probably wouldn’t allow it, but who knows
Film cannon of the first film more like. Cannon went out the window from Aliens onwards
Despite the general dislike for them, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection are still canon
That’s too bad. Those films really sucked and cheapened the Alien universe and considering them “canon” is an insult. On a different note, Do you thin Mr. Scott will give us a limited edition version of Alien as he did with Bladerunner?
There are no plans for Fox to produce a new edition of ALIEN. However, having one would make sense if only to complement Prometheus.
Watching the Teaser Trailer today on IMDb reinforced my notion that this film is strictly canonizing itself to ALIEN alone, I think Ridley loves his old baby, and sees the others(sequels) as bastardizations of his Original Film…thats why I think the sequels are “Apocryphal” in Scotts Universe…I love ALIENS too, but everything after that, including the AVP disasters, were a diservice/degradation to Scotts magnificent Film…
Yeah. A3 personally has been the biggest let down because I had huge hopes for it when I was a young fan boy. I learned my lesson after that with regard to subsequent Alien related movies.
Later in life I came to appreciate A3 more. The Assembly Cut is a massive improvement over the TR.
I must agree with that, the Assembly Cut actually ties it toghether much tighter…A3′s Original Edit was like a jumbled puzzle nightmare, you could barely keep up with who was who(buncha bald guys running around aimlessly) what horrible editing…at least with the Assembly Cut you got to know the players a bit more, and you were not left dizzy trying to keep up…I’ve learned to appreciate the atmosphere of the film, the foreboding bleakness, nihilistic nature of the whole thing.
The Weyland-Yutani symbol on the vehicle in the shot with the flamethrower says this is definitely tied to the Alien universe.
Yes, it is widely believed that the W on the vehicles is the logo of Weyland Corporation (the supposed entity before its merger with Yutani Corp)
The merger itself takes place between Prometheus and Alien.
By using that “W”, I think Scott is acknowledging Camerons Film addition and its success…Originaly Scotts Emblem for the Weyland-Yutani Corp was an Eagle with wings outstreched and a few other minimalistic signage…It was Cameron who introduced us to the WY Graphic Design that we’re now so used to…Scotts usage of it, makes me believe he respects what Cameron contributed to what he began.
Yes. Further there is now a D at the end of Weyland. In ALIEN, it was only known as Weylan Yutani
I just read somewhere in IMDb that the space jokeys are actually like suits of somekind, is this an official thing or just expeculation?…
excuse my spelling if I made a mistake
It has been long debated that the “Elephant proboscis” is not the Beings actual nose, but more like an atmospheric “nose/mouth piece”…In Gigers Original Artwork before it was even for a film, it was clearly a gas breathe hose to a Being strapped to a command chair…the debate continues.
